There has been some major buzz around the internet the past couple of days and especially on twitter about a new upgrade to your current Prius that will allow it to get 100 MPG. Yes..I did say 100 MPG!

Hymotion is finalizing their Prius plugin conversion for the 2004-2008 Prius. The Hymotion L5 will be available for only $10,000 and will give your Prius 100 MPG. The charge of the battery will last about 30 – 40 miles. If you are waiting to get a plugin hybrid Prius from Toyota, you will have to wait for 2 to 3 years. Right now, Toyota has promised to have a plugin hybrid in 2010.

This conversion for your Prius will be available in July and you can reserve your new conversion pack right now for only $1,000 down. I have to admit, I do think the cost is a little outrageous, but you will have the greenest car in your city! Only if I had $10,000 laying around……….

The whole system and new battery pack will have a 3 year warranty. You will also want to make sure you are near approved dealerships in San Francisco, Los Angeles, Seattle, Boston, or Minneapolis.

Hymotion L5 Plug-in Conversion Module for the Toyota Prius

Purchase Price $9995 including installation and standard 3 year warranty

$400 destination fee plus all applicable taxes

Place your $1000 deposit and select your Green CHIP dealer location

Receive deposit confirmation

Recieve target install date within 5 business days

Green CHIP dealer will contact you to arrange your installation appointment

Bring your vehicle in, purchase your L5 from your Green CHIP dealer by paying remaining balance including all applicable taxes

As much I would love it for my Prius, I don’t think it’s too affordable right now even if gas prices continue to rise. Maybe if gas prices reach $10 a gallon by the summer, I will be converting my Prius in July!

Whats your thoughts? Do you want or will you be converting your Prius to be able to plug it in?
